650 külföldi diák kezdte meg tanulmányait idén a BME angol nyelvű képzési programjaiban.
A nemzetközi tanévnyitó hagyományaihoz tartozik az elsőévesek eskütétele. Az eskü szövegét Szarvas Gellért Erasmus-koordinátor olvasta fel, Layan Sawalha jordániai elsőéves villamosmérnök hallgató pedig segítségül a mikrofonba mondta, így bátorítva társait. Az esküt tett új egyetemi polgárokat a Műegyetemi Kórus éneke köszöntötte.
Az elsőévesek nevében Artyom Csarkovszkij orosz informatikus hallgató mondott köszöntő beszédet. Mint fogalmazott, korábban többször járt Magyarországon, és lenyűgözte annak története és kultúrája, valamint a Balaton hangulatos környezete. Mivel gyerekkora óta érdeklődik a programozás iránt, könnyű döntésnek bizonyult, hogy a nagy presztízsű Műegyetemet válassza továbbtanuláskor. Várakozásaiban eddig nem csalódott: barátságos évfolyamtársak és segítőkész oktatók várták újdonsült intézményében. Végezetül sok sikert kívánt hallgatótársainak a tanévhez.
A ceremónia után egy jó hangulatú csoportfotózást szerveztünk, ahol vegyesen részt vettek BSc-s és MSc-s diákok is. Reméljük, a fotókon is látható lesz ez a bohókás hangulatú péntek délután, 2021. október 15-én.

It is part of the traditions of the international opening ceremony that first-year students take an oath, the solemn declaration. The text of the oath was read by Mr Gellért Szarvas, Erasmus coordinator, and Ms Layan Sawalha, a first-year MSc student from Jordan, and Mr Abdullah Mohamed Mahmoud Yehia Elmaghrby, a first-year BSc student from Egypt, both of them are at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, encouraged their fellow students by repeating the text loudly. The newly sworn university citizens were saluted by the University Choir.
On behalf of first-year students, Mr Artyom Csarkovszkij, a Russian student of BSc Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics, gave a welcoming speech. As he said, he had visited Hungary several times before and was amazed and fascinated by the rich history and culture, just like by the beauty of Lake Balaton and its surroundings. As he was interested in computer programming from an early age, it was an easy decision for him to choose the prestigious institution of BME after his high school studies. He is not disappointed so far: friendly classmates and helpful professors greeted him after his arrival. Finally, he wished the best of luck and success to his fellow students.
After the ceremony, we organised a fun group photo session with a mix of BSc and MSc students. We hope that the photos will reflect this fun Friday afternoon on 15 October 2021.
